Not Your Typical PT: Who I Am, How I Work and Where to Find Me
Hi, I’m Rhiannon!
I’m a qualified personal trainer, neurodivergent human (AuDHD with anxiety, depression and undiagnosed but likely OCD), mental health and neurodivergent advocate, creative thinker, content creator and someone who really understands what it feels like to not see yourself in the fitness world.
Because for a long time, I didn’t either. Even today, in the role I am in, it feels like I am the online one showing up a bit differently.
I’ve been morbidly obese. I’ve battled disordered eating, burnout, chronic self-doubt and the kind of gym anxiety that made me cry in the car park. And now? I help people like me—people who’ve felt left out, overlooked, or overwhelmed feel safe, comfortable and at home in their bodies.
This isn’t your typical “before and after” story. And I’m not your typical PT.
What Makes My Personal Training Style Different?
Neurodivergent-friendly
As someone with ADHD and autism, I get sensory overload, executive dysfunction, and how hard it can be to get started. I build routines that work with your brain, not against it.
I was late diagnosed which means for years I didn’t know what I needed to be able to feel comfortable in certain spaces. For years I didn’t understand why I couldn’t just ‘crack on’ and be like everyone else. This means that I get it if you need patience. If you want to ask clarifying questions, if you need things just a bit different to the ‘norm’ - I can accommodate your needs because they are likely similar to my own.
Judgement-free zone
I’m not here to shout at you or push you to do burpees until you cry. I’m here to help you feel safe, seen and strong. I’ll chat with you to help understand what you need and how I can accommodate that. It’s almost like needed reasonable adjustments at work but instead, with me at the gym!
I’ve been very large. I’ve needed seat belt extenders in airplanes. I’ve been too heavy for water slides and too big to fit into standard school and work uniform. I’ve chafed just by walking. I’ve split seams without even bending over.
I’m still a bigger person than most and I’m not what you will expect. But that is why I do what I do. Because I want to show you that you can look like me and be a personal trainer. You can look like me and you can show up. You can look like me and you can take up space.
Flexible support
Whether you want in-person sessions, gym confidence building or remote accountability, I tailor everything to you. That means making sure everything fits in to your life with as much ease as possible and removes any additional friction to you achieving your goals.
Realistic and kind
Progress doesn’t have to be punishing and it doesn’t need to be rushed. You’re allowed to take your time. You’re allowed to mess up. I’ll be in your corner every step of the way. If things don’t go to plan, fine. I won’t be disapointed, I won’t tell you that you’re not trying hard enough. I won’t make you feel bad. What I will do is congratulate you on showing up and any other things you can be proud of. Life is so much more than what you weigh or what you’ve eaten in a week.
Where I’m Based
You’ll find me at JD Gyms in Wolverhampton or Codsall Leisure Centre, where I offer 1:1 personal training and gym induction sessions for people who want to feel more confident walking through those gym doors.
Whether you’re brand new to fitness, coming back after a break or just want someone who truly gets it—I’m here.
How to Work With Me
There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to health and fitness, especially when you're navigating gyms, routines, or motivation with a neurodivergent brain. That’s why I offer a few different ways we can work together, all designed to meet you where you are, without pressure or overwhelm.
1:1 personal training
My 1:1 sessions are designed for real life. We’ll look at your energy levels, your mood, your schedule, and what actually feels achievable for you—not what the fitness industry says you should be doing. Whether we’re training in the gym or planning things together, it’s always tailored to your needs.
There’s no shouting, no toxic motivation, and definitely no cookie-cutter workouts. I take time to understand your goals, your sensory preferences, and your experience level, and we build from there—at a pace that feels right.
I can help with gym confidence, strength training, cardio, or just understanding how to move your body in ways that feel good. Everything is collaborative, and you’re in control every step of the way. Find out more here.
Beginner gym inductions
Gyms can be a lot. The noise, the lights, the layout, the machines... It’s no wonder so many people walk in once and never go back. That’s why I offer a completely different kind of induction experience.
This is for you if you’ve ever walked into a gym and thought, “Nope.”
Or if you’ve wanted to get started but just don’t know where to begin.
I guide you through everything at your pace. We’ll walk through the space together, try out equipment without pressure, and talk through anything that feels confusing. I explain what each machine does, demonstrate how to use it safely, and help you find what feels comfortable.
I can also turn off the loud music during these sessions and make sure you always have space to ask questions (only if you want to!) remember, there is no such thing as a silly one here. For anyone who finds gyms overwhelming, confusing or intimidating. Find out more about my induction process in this podcast episode. Or watch this video!
Remote coaching
If in-person isn’t possible (or just isn’t your thing), remote coaching gives you the same level of care and customisation, without having to leave your own space.
You’ll get structured guidance, regular check-ins, and a strategy that works around your lifestyle, not against it. I help you set realistic goals, track progress in ways that don’t trigger overwhelm, and create systems that feel actually doable.
Whether you need help with routine, accountability, or breaking things down into small steps that make sense for your brain, I’m here for it.
We use tools like video check-ins, messages and shared planning spaces to stay connected. It’s collaborative, supportive and designed to feel like you’ve got someone in your corner, because you do. Find out more here.
